I was part of a group presentation in my Arabic discussion section the other day, and I didn't freeze up and die, which was a BIG DEAL to me.
I did, however, make a typo on one of my slides. With one letter I changed the full name of the city of Mecca from "Beloved city" to "Hated city."
Yes, I am just. that. awesome.

haha!!!
OH, DEAR!!!!! I just love that last line of your blog entry. You so funny! ;)
Perhaps the real moral of the story is you shouldn't name your city something one letter off from something not so good...
SERIOUSLY. Details matter and city-namers should do their best to make things easy on the rest of us.
There's a common pronunciation error among Chinese-speaking missionaries... huozhe is "alive" and houzi is "monkey." Let's just say that "I know that Jesus lives" can go horribly, horrible wrong. Luckily there's always context... pretty much most people figure out you didn't REALLY mean "monkey."
(Okay, I think actually most missionaries are warned about that one enough times that the error isn't THAT common.)
LOL. you never cease to amaze me Marg. you are great!
HOoray! Just kidding. HOpe there weren't any people offended... likely they all know you'd never do such a thing on purpose :)
